Regarding the commentary's: "However, the text of this sūtra," this is the explanation. This refers to the *Daji* above. As for the words "manifesting the images of the four continents," and so forth, the text says: "O Son of the Buddha! Just as the great ocean can universally seal and manifest the physical forms and images of all sentient beings in the four continents, therefore it is collectively spoken of as the great ocean; the bodhi of the Buddhas is likewise also thus: it universally manifests the thoughts, faculties, desires, and inclinations of all sentient beings without anything being manifested; therefore it is named the bodhi of the Buddhas." The verse below says: "As the ocean seals and manifests the minds of sentient beings, / By this it is spoken of as the great ocean; / Bodhi universally seals all mental actions, / Therefore it is spoken of as correct awakening."
