36.62

疏「前解此了」者，前偈云「如是解法性」，故云前解。此偈云「於此性了知」，故云此了。並是了因，明知一切眾生雖有第一義空智慧之性，若無般若等為了因者，終不成佛。上通二偈，以出正了。

Regarding the Commentary's statement, "The previous understanding and this comprehension": the preceding verse states, "Thus understanding dharmatā," hence it is called "the previous understanding." This verse states, "Comprehending regarding this nature," hence it is called "this comprehension." Both are revealing causes. This clearly shows that although all sentient beings possess the nature of wisdom that is the supreme-meaning emptiness, if they lack prajñā and the like as the revealing cause, they will ultimately never become Buddhas. The above connects the two verses in order to bring out correct comprehension.
