42.18

疏「八摩納婆」，此云儒童，即出《智論》。若《瑜伽》云，謂，依止於意，或高或下。故彼疏釋云「意高下者，約行以釋。然行高下皆由於意。稚年之者高下不定故，以高下而以顯之。」釋曰：稚年高下者，即少年有學者也。

Regarding the commentary's statement, "Eight, māṇava": here translated as "youthful scholar" (rutong), this comes from the Mahāprajñāpāramitopadeśa. If according to the Yogācārabhūmi, it says that it means relying upon the mind (manas), which may be high or low. Therefore, its commentary explains, "'High or low in mind' is explained in terms of practice. However, high and low in practice are both due to the mind. Because those of tender years are unstable in being high or low, it is revealed by means of high and low." Explication: "Those of tender years being high or low" refers to young persons who are still in training.
