Regarding the commentary's statement, "One: externally lacking specific and universal marks": "Specific mark" refers to the mark of physical obstruction of form, the mark of receptive experiencing of feeling, and so forth, belonging to each separately. "Universal mark" refers to the five aggregates being identically impermanent, suffering, empty, and non-self. Both of these are external marks. The second is the substance of all conditioned and unconditioned dharmas. All dharmas do not go beyond these two.
