48.18

疏「今初先舉時辨處」下，於此總中，「數多」者，佛所莊嚴廣大剎，等於一切微塵數故。其中已有圓滿之相。如「方處間列」，即方處圓滿；「無分量故」者，即分量圓滿。「淨識所現」者，唯佛窮故。謂賴耶淨識現於自受用土，第七淨識現他受用土，餘五淨識現變化土。「唯佛窮」者，八識轉智唯佛窮故。登地分見，見他受用故。雖含有別，意皆是總。

Regarding the commentary's statement, "Now, first, it raises the time and specifies the place": within this general summary, "many in number" refers to the vast lands adorned by the Buddha being equal to the number of all atoms; within this, the characteristics of perfection are already present. For instance, "arrayed across directions and locations" is the perfection of direction and location; "because it is without measure" is the perfection of measure. "Manifested by pure consciousness" means it is fathomed only by a Buddha. That is, the pure consciousness of the ālaya manifests the land of self-enjoyment; the seventh pure consciousness manifests the land of other-enjoyment; and the remaining five pure consciousnesses manifest the land of transformation. "Fathomed only by a Buddha" refers to the eight consciousnesses transformed into wisdom being fathomed only by a Buddha. Upon ascending the stages, it is seen partially, for one sees the other-enjoyment [land]. Although it contains distinctions, the intent in all cases is general.
