The sixth pariṇāmanā. Regarding the commentary's "Now first, citing the title to raise the inquiry," there are six parts within this: 1. generally explaining the title; 2. from "Original division" downward, harmonizing with the preceding text; 3. from "Original action" downward, harmonizing with other sūtras; 4. from "This is in terms of" downward, distinctly revealing the reason for receiving the name; 5. from "It may also be named" downward, harmonizing with the six explanations; 6. from "Namely, with unimpeded" downward, identifying the essence. As for the commentary's "a kingdom of a thousand chariots": in antiquity, one city supplied one leather chariot; a kingdom of a thousand chariots had a land of a thousand cities. A "chariot" (sheng) is a carriage, meaning a carriage lined with hide. Ge is hide; raw it is called ge, cured it is called wei. Each chariot commanded seventy-two soldiers. Regarding the commentary's "then from one continent onward": there are four wheel-turning kings; the iron-wheel king rules over only one continent. Regarding the commentary's "equally teaching the ten good actions": this is because wheel-turning kings transform the world through the ten good actions. Regarding the commentary's "possessing the eight vipākas is superior rebirth": this refers to fascicle thirty-six of the Yogācārabhūmi, which has already been distinguished in the 'Pure Practice Chapter'.
