疏「上半喻下半合」等者，此段疏文有四：初總科、二「此中喻意」下總出喻旨、三舉論廣釋、四例釋說默。二中三：初釋喻相、二「於中能依」下舉法合、三「然空中風畫」下正顯喻意。

Regarding the commentary's words "The first half is a metaphor, the latter half applies it", and so forth: this passage of the commentary has four parts: first, a general structural analysis; second, beginning with "The intent of the metaphor here", a general presentation of the point of the metaphor; third, adducing the treatise to explain in detail; fourth, analogously explaining preaching and silence. Within the second part there are three: first, explaining the characteristics of the metaphor; second, beginning with "Within this, the dependent...", adducing the phenomena to apply it; third, beginning with "However, drawing pictures in the wind in the sky", directly revealing the intent of the metaphor.
