60.17

第五佛善。疏「前三屬佛」者，是顯佛德，唯明觀門。後一思齊，乃有二意：一約所求德，二地思齊即是行門；二顯佛法殊勝。亦是觀門四中：一對凡彰淨、二對小彰捨、三通觀諸菩薩明方便、四以自對佛明求。

Fifth, the Buddha's goodness. Regarding the Commentary's phrase: "The preceding three belong to the Buddha": this reveals the Buddha's virtues, explaining solely the portal of contemplation. The latter one, emulating [the Buddha], then has two meanings: first, in terms of the virtues sought, emulating [the Buddha] on the second ground is precisely the portal of practice; second, it reveals the pre-eminence of the Buddha-dharma, which is also the portal of contemplation. Among the four: first, in contrast to worldlings, it displays purity; second, in contrast to the lesser [vehicle], it displays relinquishment; third, by universally contemplating all bodhisattvas, it explains upāya; fourth, by contrasting oneself with the Buddha, it explains seeking.
