疏「今初對治顛倒道」，文前有七：一釋名、二出體、三辨相差別、四彰所由、五辨其次第、六明倒通局、七明觀相異同。今初釋名。若云念處，處唯約所住。若云念住，住通能所。

Regarding the commentary's "Now, first, the path for counteracting inversions…", before the main text there are seven points: first, explaining the name; second, identifying the essence; third, discerning differences among the characteristics; fourth, clarifying the reason [for their establishment]; fifth, discerning their sequence; sixth, clarifying the comprehensive and restricted aspects of the inversions; seventh, clarifying the similarities and differences in the characteristics of contemplation. Now, first, explaining the name: If one says "smṛtyupasthāna" [as "abodes of mindfulness"], "abode" (處) is restricted solely to the object of abiding. If one says "applications of mindfulness" (念住), "abiding" (住) applies comprehensively to both the active [mindfulness] and the objective [realm].
