疏「順怨道故」者，煩惱結使名為稠林，是魔所行，故名怨道。既趣怨道，即遠真道。

Regarding the commentary's: "Because of following the path of the adversary": Afflictions and entanglements are called a dense thicket; they are what is traveled by Māra, and are therefore called the path of the adversary. Having headed into the path of the adversary, they are then distant from the true path.
