Regarding the Commentary's passage from "However, its three contemplations all extend to both benefits" downward: This is the third [section], distinguishing the two benefits, where the three contemplations form three [divisions]. Within the third contemplation, first it explains generally, and then from "within it" downward, it explains specifically. The phrase "the next two are benefiting others" refers to the sixth, efficacy and non-efficacy, and the seventh, arrogance; both cause others to enter with faith. The phrase "the first two extend to defilement and purity": the first door is called distinguishing defilement and purity. The next door takes delusion as the reliance of defilement and awakening as the reliance of purity; hence the Commentary lists: "(1) showing the characteristics of defilement and purity; (2) showing the reliance of defilement and purity."
