67.7

疏「如二束蘆」者，謂因果互依。初門已有，但約識與名色互依；今通十二因緣。然要云束蘆者，又取中空，十二因緣相，有名生、虛無名滅。生滅假集，亦如束蘆。

Where the commentary says, 'like two bundles of reeds,' it refers to cause and effect being mutually interdependent. This was already present in the first approach, but there it only concerned vijñāna and nāmarūpa being mutually interdependent; here it applies generally to the twelve links of dependent origination. However, the reason it must be called 'bundles of reeds' is that it also takes their being hollow inside: regarding the characteristics of the twelve links of dependent origination, that they exist is called arising, and that they are empty non-entities is called cessation. Arising and ceasing are conventional aggregations, which are also like bundles of reeds.
