69.49

疏「論云：彼行中攝功德因勝」者，彼行即無生忍行，由有忍行故佛與智。此二皆因，此因皆勝，故能攝德。正以與智而能攝德，故疏論但以與智為因，轉推得智之因復由得忍。

Regarding the commentary's statement, "The treatise says: In that practice, the causes for gathering merits are superior": "that practice" is the practice of the anutpatti-kṣānti; because there is the practice of kṣānti, the Buddha grants wisdom. Both of these are causes, and these causes are both superior; hence they are able to gather merits. Precisely because granting wisdom enables the gathering of merits, the commentary and treatise only take granting wisdom as the cause, and tracing back the cause of attaining wisdom, it is further due to attaining kṣānti.
