69.62

疏「所以相作」下，出其所因。以經文中但云「隨眾生心之所樂故」，則唯是業用門而無德相，故具出所以，例前可知。則經文中但有第二義，第一義略無。第二引晉經文證者，第二因緣和合是緣起故。上顯相作之因，論主但明相作之意。然隨眾生樂，通因通意，意欲攝生，故是意也。就隨意能作，即業用因。

From the Commentary's statement, "The reason they form one another..." onward, it brings out its cause. Because the sūtra text only says, "In accordance with what the minds of sentient beings take delight in," this is solely the gate of functioning through action and lacks the characteristics of virtue; therefore, it fully brings out the reason, which by analogy with the preceding may be understood. Thus the sūtra text contains only the second meaning and omits the first meaning. The second [reason] cites the text of the Jin translation of the sūtra for proof: the second is that the coming together of causes and conditions constitutes conditioned arising. The above reveals the causes for mutual formation; the treatise master merely clarified the intent behind mutual formation. However, according to what sentient beings delight in applies both to the cause and to the intent: the intent is the wish to gather in sentient beings, so it is the intent. In terms of being able to act in accordance with intent, it is the cause of functioning through action.
