疏「前中雖聞」等下，第三揀濫通妨，亦《唯識》意，故云前中。亦為揀於《起信》等中，善友聞法為外熏故。

Regarding the commentary’s text from “Although hearing was mentioned above” onward: the third eliminates misconceptions and resolves difficulties, which is also the meaning of the *Vijñaptimātratāsiddhi*, hence it says “above.” It also serves to distinguish this from the *Awakening of Faith* and other texts, in which hearing the Dharma from a good friend serves as external perfuming.
