疏「初來意」等者，分來、品來二意：先約四分以明來意；後「亦遠答」下，就前總別以明來意，九會共答十海問故。疏「會品」下，此中亦合有三來意，然〈離世間〉雖亦一會一分一品，而其所對分會品差有三來意。此中前無分會品別對，故但為一。

Regarding the Commentary's phrase "First, the purpose of its occurrence" and so forth: there are two purposes, that of the division's occurrence and that of the chapter's occurrence. First, it clarifies the purpose of its occurrence with reference to the four divisions. Next, from "It also distantly answers..." onward, it clarifies the purpose of its occurrence in terms of the preceding general and specific [questions], because the nine assemblies together answer the ten questions on the oceans. Regarding the Commentary's phrase "Assembly and chapter" and so forth: here there should also be three purposes of occurrence; however, although the chapter "Detachment from the World" is also one assembly, one division, and one chapter, because its corresponding division, assembly, and chapter differ, it has three purposes of occurrence. Here, as there is no separate correspondence of preceding division, assembly, and chapter, they are treated simply as one.
