疏「二者別喻」等者，亦舉正以揀昔非。於中有八：一總出別喻之由，即反顯也；二「然雖別」下，揀異昔非；三「而前九」下，通明十喻異相；四「於前九中」下，總示別喻德相；五「又第一五十」下，約迷悟之人揀其喻相；六「又唯約聲聞」下，別示迷者異相；七「且就前九」下，將欲釋文，重揀第三諸喻別相；八「前九德中」下，通收通別二意。

In the commentary, "second, specific similes" and so forth also puts forward what is correct to distinguish the errors of the past. Therein are eight [points]: 1. generally setting forth the rationale for specific similes, which is a converse demonstration; 2. from "however, although specific" onward, differentiating from past errors; 3. from "and the preceding nine" onward, comprehensively clarifying the distinct characteristics of the ten similes; 4. from "among the preceding nine" onward, generally showing the characteristics of the virtues in the specific similes; 5. from "moreover, the first, fifth, and tenth" onward, distinguishing the characteristics of the similes with respect to deluded and awakened persons; 6. from "moreover, solely regarding the śrāvakas" onward, specifically showing the distinct characteristics of the deluded; 7. from "for the moment regarding the preceding nine" onward, when about to explain the text, re-distinguishing the specific characteristics of the various similes in the third; 8. from "among the virtues of the preceding nine" onward, comprehensively gathering the two senses of general and specific.
