86.10

疏「三如幻對」者，但有通喻。新經別喻云「又知自心猶如幻術，知一切佛如幻所作。謂有能幻法，方有幻事。無能念心，無所見佛。」疏中具顯三觀：初空觀、次「而不無幻相」下即假觀、後「正喻」下中道觀也。

Regarding the commentary's phrase "Third, in matching it to a phantom": this is only a common analogy. The exclusive analogy of the new sūtra says: "Furthermore, one knows one's own mind to be like an illusionist's art, and knows all buddhas to be like what is made by illusion. That is, only when there is an illusory dharma is there an illusory phenomenon. Without the mind capable of recollection, there is no Buddha seen." In the commentary, the three contemplations are fully revealed: first, the contemplation of emptiness; next, from "yet it is not without illusory marks" downward, the contemplation of the conventional; finally, from "to properly make an analogy" downward, the contemplation of the middle way.
