Regarding the Commentary's phrase "Seventeen: there is one verse": according to the sūtra, this refers to being fully endowed with the Tathāgata's equal liberation. In the Commentary, it first establishes the name and then, from "Since [it] manifests according to understanding" onwards, explains the sūtra. The Treatise states: "Because outsiders, upon hearing of the equality above, thought that they share one identical nature, it is next stated that they do not intermingle. That is, the essence and function of the ten bodies of all Tathāgatas are each distinct, just like a thousand lamps in a dark room." Concluding this section on the differentiated Buddha-lands has already been concurrently explained in the fourth gate above. Therefore, this merely briefly reveals the inconceivable, and hence cannot be illustrated by an analogy.
