Regarding the commentary's "Second, in terms of the distinct teaching" and so forth: the four propositions of the distinct teaching pertain solely to the non-obstruction of phenomena and phenomena. This is because the characteristics of sentient beings and the Buddha remain distinct, yet they mutually reside within one another. It may also be said that the former is the gate of mutual identity and the latter is the gate of mutual entry; because the gate of mutual identity contains the non-obstruction of phenomena and principle, it is provisionally named the shared teaching. Regarding the commentary's "First, sentient beings are entirely within the Buddha" and so forth: the first proposition has two parts: first, the correct establishment; next, the citation of proof. Now, for the first part: this is because the Buddha's fruition accords with the nature, so it subsumes all dharmas without remainder, since not a single dharma lies outside the dharmatā. The entirety of the nature constitutes the Buddha, and therefore there is no dharma that is not subsumed.
