Regarding the commentary's statement, “In the first verse, compassion and gnosis guide each other, delivering sentient beings without weariness”: if compassion lacks great gnosis, it turns into attachment and view. With the compassion of attachment and views, one will have a weary mind toward saṃsāra. Now, cultivating practice across oceans of kalpas without weariness shows that gnosis is guiding it. If gnosis lacks compassion, it mostly tends toward quiescence, which is called inferior. Now, in freeing sentient beings from suffering, the mind is not inferior, which means compassion is guiding it. Because of compassion, one can deliver; because of gnosis, there is no weariness.
