Eighth: The profound nature of the auxiliary path. Regarding the Commentary's line: "It means severing delusions and realizing the principle": this means that one slays the thief of afflictions with the sword of wisdom, and only through non-conceptual cognition can one realize tathatā. As for the phrase "guiding the practices," the Mahāprajñāpāramitā-śāstra states: "The five pāramitās are like blind people, and prajñā is like one with eyes." Thus, it can clearly see the smooth path and open the way for the myriad practices, steering the mind along the middle path to arrive at the city of omniscience. Therefore, when the other practices obtain wisdom, they all reach the other shore, and prajñā ultimately accomplishes the fruit of bodhi.
