34.32

Regarding the Commentary's line: "Depending on whether the land is defiled or pure and the differences among inhabitants, the manifestation of supernormal powers is also distinct": this means that they differ depending on whether what is seen is superior or inferior, abundant or few. For instance, in the land of the Tathāgata Samantadarsana, the sentient beings therein all accomplish spontaneous supernormal steps, and so forth; thus, what the Buddha manifests for them is necessarily different from this realm.
