Below where the commentary states "Therefore the Chapter on the Arising", it cites two texts as proof. First, the covert entry of Buddha-wisdom: this uses the body of wisdom to universally prove the Buddha's body. Passages where the Buddha's body accords with transformation are exceedingly numerous. Taking the meaning of covert entry here, it therefore cites the Chapter on the Arising. That sūtra states: "Just as with the great ocean, its waters secretly flow through the earth of the four continents and the eighty billion small islands, so that anyone who digs will unfailingly obtain water, yet that great ocean makes no discrimination that 'I am discharging water' "; matching this, the ocean of water of the Buddha's wisdom is also like this, flowing into the minds of all sentient beings. If sentient beings observe objects and cultivate the Dharma-gates, they obtain wisdom that is pure and clear. Yet the Tathāgata's wisdom is equal, non-dual, and free from discrimination; it is merely that because the mental activities of sentient beings differ, the wisdom they obtain is each distinct. That which is cited here takes precisely the meaning of covert entry. Where the commentary says "It also states, 'within the minds of sentient beings' ", and so forth: this was also cited earlier from the preceding text of that chapter.
