Regarding the commentary's statement from "Furthermore, to reveal the projecting branches" onward: this re-explains the reason why the first two consecutively form one unit. If the branch of consciousness is projected, then the projecting are only two; if consciousness is projecting, then the projecting are three. If consciousness is taken as projected, then the above four rounds become three categories: the first one is solely in terms of the projecting; the second is explained solely in terms of the projected; the third and fourth apply to pairings of projecting/actualising and projected/actualised. It reveals that the twelve [links], when viewed in mutual relation one by one, all obtain 'this existing, that exists; this arising, that arises' and so forth; it is not necessary that projecting and projected, or actualising and actualised, be paired against each other to clarify them before 'this existing, that exists' and so on obtain. Therefore the commentary says, 'the marvel of the expounder.'
