From 'the teaching arises from many origins' downward in the commentary is the second, revealing the differences among the signs. Because the teachings that are given rise to differ, the signs capable of giving rise to them are distinct. For example, when preaching the Saddharmapuṇḍarīka, it takes the emission of light, the shaking of the earth, and the raining of flowers as its signs; when about to preach the Nirvāṇa, it takes voice and light illuminating everywhere and universal proclamation as its signs; when preaching the Prajñā[pāramitā], it takes the scattering of golden flowers as its signs. The present sūtra possesses all such signs: the six types of quaking of the Flower-Treasury World, the raining down of flower-clouds, incense-clouds, canopy-clouds, garland-clouds, necklace-clouds, and so forth, are all its signs. Furthermore, the 'Chapter on Manifesting Signs' manifests five kinds of signs, and so forth.
