On the commentary's "the second has two clauses, relying on fellows in the Dharma": this means the mind is extremely harmonious and kind in dwelling together; one's own practice dwells together in peace, joy, harmony, and kindness, so as not to disturb others. Being together as fellows in the Dharma, one gives rise to the thought of repaying kindness. As for "according with the intentions of good spiritual friends who are fellow practitioners": this is because one gives rise to harmony and accord toward fellow practitioners. Fellow practitioners readily accept the teaching of good spiritual friends, and therefore toward good spiritual friends they accomplish the practice of repaying kindness. On the commentary's "two clauses on giving rise to practice relying on the Dharma": relying on the master to receive the Dharma and creating conditions to cultivate practice is called practicing relying on the Dharma. According with the master to receive instruction, saying one knows when one knows and saying one does not know when one does not know, is called uprightness. When a stone is thrown into water, the water can receive the stone; the mind can receive the cognitive object, soft and pliable like water.
