On the commentary passage beginning with "However, the external is transformed from the internal": third, merging them in unobstructed harmony. The various external receptacle worlds are instantaneously transformed by internal consciousness, and the sovereign fruit also results from one's own karma; hence it says "transformed from the internal". Regarding "root and branch mutually subsuming": the internal is the root, and the external is the branch. In terms of the meaning of mind-only, the internal subsumes the external; relying on objects to generate the mind, the branch also subsumes the root. If one takes dharmatā as the root, dharmatā blends in harmony and dependent origination is mutually conditioned, so that a dust mote envelops a great body and a hair contains lands; therefore, they combine into a single great dependent origination.
