Regarding the commentary's statement "However, the Vijñaptimātratāsiddhi-śāstra" and what follows, the second part harmonizes with the Abhidharmasamuccaya, wishing to reveal their differences. Therefore, citing that the Abhidharmasamuccaya takes consciousness as pervading both the projecting and the projected, this is its established position; it directly takes the seed of karma, which identifies its rationale. Because formations perfume the mind, inviting the consciousness of the future effect, it is therefore the link of consciousness. If so, under what is the seed of consciousness subsumed? Therefore it says name-and-form, because name-and-form is broad.
