Commentary: "Second, because one follows faith in others' words and practices the path, it is called 'practitioner following faith'" and so forth: in the Chapter on the Worthy and Noble of the *Abhidharmakośa*, the treatise says: "Moreover, regarding the distinctions in establishing the various nobles in the position of the fifteen minds, the verse says: 'They are named practitioners following faith or Dharma / Due to the distinction between dull and sharp faculties.'" The explanation says: Among noble ones in the position of the path of seeing, there are two kinds: first, practitioners following faith; second, practitioners following Dharma. Due to dull or sharp faculties, these two are distinguished and established. That is to say, a person of dull faculties is named a practitioner following faith, because in earlier times they followed faith in others' words and practiced the principles. If one has sharp faculties, one is named a practitioner following Dharma, because in earlier times they personally examined and perused the scriptures and other dharmas, and practiced the principles accordingly. When these two reach the path of cultivation, the former is called abiding in faith-liberation, and the latter is called attainment through vision; the commentary has already fully employed this.
