The commentary's 'All say "manifesting", because they were conquered long ago': That is, in the second fascicle of the Mahāparinirvāṇa-sūtra, 'The Buddha consented to accept Cunda's offering, saying: "Cunda, there are two kinds of offerings of food whose karmic retributions are without difference. What are the two? First, having received it, one attains anuttarasamyaksaṃbodhi; second, having received it, one enters nirvāṇa." Cunda did not accept these words and raised extensive objections to the Tathāgata, maintaining that the earlier offering by the two women was for a body sustained by coarse food, not an adamantine body, eternal body, dharmakāya, etc.—how could they be called identical? The Buddha replied, saying: "At that time I crushed the four māras, and now entering nirvāṇa I also crush the four māras; therefore I say the karmic retribution of the offerings is equal and without difference." At the very end it says: "The body of the Tathāgata has not received food or drink for immeasurable asaṃkhyeya kalpas."' Explanation: If this body does not receive food and drink, this reveals that this body conquered the māras long ago.
