Regarding the commentary's remark, "Because disappearing and appearing marks are like dharmatā": this means that disappearing is non-disappearing and appearing is non-appearing, for within true dharmatā there is no coming forth or disappearing. This is in terms of the unobstructedness of phenomenon and principle. The subsequent line states: "Because the characteristics of this and that mutually identify." This refers to the dharmadhātu of unobstructedness between phenomena and phenomena. Mutually identifying has three aspects: First, in terms of kṣetras, this kṣetra is identical to that kṣetra, because one kṣetra is identical to many kṣetras. Second, in terms of persons, this body is identical to that body, because one step is identical to many steps. Third, in terms of kalpas, because a single thought-moment is identical to immeasurable kalpas. Furthermore, this is because the characteristics of this and that are luminously complete, secret concealment and manifestation are accomplished simultaneously, the times and places of this and that mutually reside in one another, and the manifold layers of Indra's net are simultaneously and fully present, all being unmoving.
