14.32

第一「東方過十佛剎塵」已下三十九行半經，總明十方菩薩來集，十方自有分劑，不煩更科。於此十方菩薩來眾之中，義分為十：一舉佛剎方面、二舉佛剎遠近、三舉世界名色、四舉佛名號、五舉上首菩薩之名、六明大眾之數、七明大眾來已致敬、八明隨方化座、九明座之名目、十明大眾昇座而坐。

First, from 'To the east, past dust-mote [numbers of] buddha-lands' onward, there are thirty-nine and a half lines of the sūtra, which comprehensively clarify the assembly of bodhisattvas coming from the ten directions. The ten directions naturally have their own divisions, so there is no need to divide them into further sections. Within this assembly of arriving bodhisattvas of the ten directions, the meaning is divided into ten: first, specifying the cardinal direction of the buddha-lands; second, specifying the distance of the buddha-lands; third, specifying the names and forms of the worlds; fourth, specifying the names of the buddhas; fifth, specifying the names of the principal bodhisattvas; sixth, clarifying the numbers of the great assembly; seventh, clarifying the paying of respects after the great assembly arrives; eighth, clarifying the seats manifested according to each direction; ninth, clarifying the names of the seats; tenth, clarifying the great assembly ascending the seats and sitting.
