14.40

四舉佛名號不動智佛者，此明一切諸佛、一切眾生根本智體。今先舉之，以成初信。此明答前佛住佛剎。餘九箇智佛，總是從此根本不動智上進修之名，非是他有。十方諸佛皆同此名號之迹，而起信進修行，經歷五位，得示成正覺佛剎及佛威德。佛剎者，如來神通是也。餘意如前已述。

Fourth, in setting forth the Buddha's name as the Immovable Wisdom Buddha: this clarifies the fundamental wisdom-essence of all Buddhas and all sentient beings. It is now set forth first to establish the initial faith. This clarifies the answer to the earlier [inquiry regarding] the Buddha's abiding and the Buddha's realm. The other nine wisdom Buddhas are entirely names for progressive cultivation based upon this fundamental immovable wisdom, not something existing elsewhere. The Buddhas of the ten directions all share these traces of names, and upon them generate faith and advance in practice, traversing the five stages to manifest the realization of right awakening, the Buddha realms, and the Buddha's awe-inspiring virtue. The Buddha realms are the supernatural powers of the Tathāgata. The rest of the meaning has been stated as before.
