16.21

二釋品來意者，為第二會以來五品經，但明十信菩薩所修行法門，及一百四十願等法。此品明十信中所欣修佛果，所行行願功德廣大，故有此品來也。

Second, as for explaining the reason for the chapter's occurrence: The five chapters of the sūtra since the second assembly have only clarified the Dharma approaches cultivated by bodhisattvas of the ten faiths, as well as teachings such as the one hundred and forty vows. This chapter clarifies the Buddha fruition that is joyfully cultivated within the ten faiths, and the vast greatness of the practices, vows, and merits performed; hence, this chapter comes to be.
