The sixth, the Bodhisattva Bhadramati (Shan hui): the four points are as before. First, explaining the bodhisattva's name: this illustrates that in this abode of the upright mind, one cultivates the wisdom gate of the prajñā-pāramitā; hence the bodhisattva is named Bhadramati. Second, the world of Suvigandhapuṣpa (Wondrous Fragrant Flower): this illustrates that the fragrant flower of the wondrous function of wisdom blooms into the Buddha-fruit of oneself and others, showing that preaching the teachings through wisdom is the meaning of the fragrant flower. Third, the Buddha is named Vimukticandra (Liberation Moon), illustrating that wondrous wisdom discriminates and mind and objects are liberated. Fourth, explaining the direction from which he comes: this belongs to the assembly of the southeast. The southeast is the Xun trigram; Xun signifies the teachings of the wind and spoken words, symbolizing that in this stage one skillfully expounds the wondrous Dharma with wisdom, teaching and transforming sentient beings to liberate them. Therefore, the bodhisattva is named Bhadramati, the world is named Suvigandhapuṣpa, and the Buddha is named Vimukticandra. This corresponds to Sudhana's sixth [friend], the bhikṣu Sāgaradhvaja, whose body and mind were tranquil and free of inhalation and exhalation, and whose body emitted emanation bodies pervading the dharmadhātu, illustrating that stillness and function are unobstructed and that he attained the supernatural powers of quiet cessation.
