第九《涅槃經》明佛性為宗者，與《華嚴》有十種別、一種同。十種別者：一說法處別、二境界莊嚴別、三大會來眾別、四所建法輪主伴別、五所來之眾聞法別、六報土淨穢別、七佛身權實別、八出生滅度現相別、九示教行相別、十從初為友軌範別。

Ninth, taking the elucidation of the Buddha nature as the central tenet in the Mahāparinirvāṇa Sūtra: It has ten kinds of difference and one kind of commonality with the Avataṃsaka. The ten kinds of difference are: first, difference in the place where the Dharma was taught; second, difference in the adornments of the realm; third, difference in the assembled multitude that came to the great gathering; fourth, difference in the host and companions of the wheel of Dharma set up; fifth, difference in the assembly that came hearing the Dharma; sixth, difference in the purity and defilement of the reward land; seventh, difference in the provisional and ultimate natures of the Buddha body; eighth, difference in the manifestations of appearance in the world and passing into extinction; ninth, difference in the characteristics of the revealed teachings and practices; tenth, difference in the norms of serving as spiritual companions from the beginning.
