23.26

百千層級者，表十住進修階級出世，越百千情繫無明故，破百千業障故。如佛果座，總不云層級，以無進修昇降、覺惑淺深、智慧勝劣故。如十住中初且百千層級，為明入位進修超業障之分齊也。

"A hundred thousand tiers" represents that the advancing cultivation through the ranks of the ten abodes transcends the world, because it transcends the hundreds of thousands of emotional attachments of ignorance, and because it shatters hundreds of thousands of karmic hindrances. As for the seat of the fruit of Buddhahood, it does not speak of tiers at all, because there is no advancing cultivation, ascending or descending, shallowness or depth of awakening and delusion, or superiority and inferiority of wisdom. As in the ten abodes, it initially mentions a hundred thousand tiers to clarify the measure of entering the stages and advancing in cultivation to transcend karmic hindrances.
