Third, explaining how Sudhana symbolizes the Dharma: The spiritual friend whom Sudhana meets at this stage is present within the Buddha's assembly, which indicates that he performs the myriad practices without departing from the essence of bodhi. He is named Blossoming Tree Flowers to symbolize the blossoming of the flowers of Samantabhadra's practices upon the tree of signless, wondrous wisdom, and also the blossoming of the flowers of the tree of practices born of all sentient beings' ignorance to make them the flowers of Samantabhadra's practices, thereby symbolizing the perfection of worldly practices and the gate of compassion on the seventh ground. His body being within a multistoried pavilion of manifold jewel trees upon a lion throne made of wondrous jewels symbolizes that the manifold jewel trees are the myriad practices, illustrating the circumstantial retribution; the jewel trees forming the shape of a pavilion illustrates the wisdom that accompanies the practices. The lion throne of wondrous jewels symbolizes wondrous functioning and fearless practice. Sudhana's attainment of the bodhisattva liberation of vast joy illustrates that the bodhisattvas of this ground fulfill the practice of great kindness and compassion, are universally able to skillfully instruct and transform sentient beings, and take tireless joy in it. Not dwelling in either defilement or purity, it is therefore called liberation. The seventh ground is the teaching that is bestowed, and this is the practice performed within the seventh ground; therefore, his own dwelling place is used to symbolize it.
