In the second part, on deferring to other virtues and advancing forward, from "As all bodhisattvas..." down to "he paid homage, took his leave, and departed," there are about sixteen lines of sūtra text, which are divided into five gates: first, deferring to virtues beforehand and bidding Sudhana advance; second, indicating the kalyāṇamitra's location; third, citing the name of the city where the kalyāṇamitra resides as "Well-Abiding" (Anzhu); fourth, citing the name of the kalyāṇamitra, the upāsikā named Acalā; fifth, paying respects, taking leave, and departing. In explaining the meaning according to the text: that there is a "royal capital" indicates that this stage is the dwelling place of the ninth [stage] Dharma Prince bodhisattva, and hence it is called a "royal capital." Generally, in the five stages, the ninth stage is always the stage of the Dharma Prince, where one attains unhindered mastery in preaching the Dharma. An "upāsikā" is a female lay devotee. Having already grown up, being twenty years of age or older, unmarried and living independently, cultivating virtue, detached from worldly dust, unstained and pure, she is called an "upāsikā." Being named "Acalā" ("Immovable") indicates that ever since this woman first gave rise to the aspiration [for enlightenment], throughout the births she has taken during kalpas as numerous as dust motes in Jambudvīpa, she has never been stirred at all by the five worldly desires or by anger; hence she is named Acalā.
