Eighth, explaining being unhindered according with conditions: this was spoken from the seventh assembly, gathering the assemblies of the eight dhyānas in the Third Dhyāna. A bodhisattva bound to one last birth enters the samādhi of the Buddha-flower, teaching the Dharma gate of Samantabhadra in the stage of equal enlightenment, the eleventh ground. When the ten grounds are completed, it explains that the path of one's own share has ended; in the stage of equal enlightenment one practices the conduct of Samantabhadra, fully clarifying the entry into conventional reality, completely pervading the dharmadhātu, with cascading tiers of practice gates extending broadly to empty space and the oceans of kṣetras within minute particles of dust, layer upon layer without obstruction, vast as the dharmadhātu and ultimate as empty space—this is called the conduct of Samantabhadra in the stage of equal enlightenment. As for the 'samādhi of the Buddha-flower', the word 'flower' refers to practice that is worthy to behold, having the meaning of blooming and evoking the fruit. This is the Dharma gate of the Buddha's practice. 'Buddha' means awakening, explaining the functional application of equal enlightenment in the eleventh ground. It explains that the realization of buddhahood through the ten grounds having concluded, next the awakened practice of the eleventh ground is perfected; hence it is called the Buddha-flower Dharma gate. 'Samādhi' is the Dharma gate of the great tranquility of the fundamental essence of the dharmadhātu; the extinguishing of feelings of concentration and distraction is called original tranquility. Because of this concentration, one practices all samādhis of the practice gates of Samantabhadra, as this is the fundamental essence. In that heavenly place, for the assemblies of the eight dhyānas of the form realm and formless realm, the concentration gate of a bodhisattva bound to one last birth entering the samādhi of the Buddha-flower was preached in one million billion verses. Because the bodhisattva of this stage enters the Buddha-flower Dharma gate and skillfully clarifies the entry into conventional reality, broadly benefiting sentient beings with sovereignty, it is called 'unhindered according with conditions'. This stage explains that practice throughout the dharmadhātu is complete; why was the Dharma gate of the eleventh ground preached in that heavenly place? Because in that heavenly place feelings of sorrow and suffering have vanished, and there is only the joy of samādhi; this is to explain that because of this bodhisattva's concentration, feelings have vanished, and there is only the joy of benefiting sentient beings through wisdom and compassion. Because this place expresses the Dharma, the Dharma gate of the eleventh ground was preached in this place. The stage and its practice gates are broadly as explained in the Yingluo jing; this serves to supply what was not yet complete in the incoming text of the Avataṃsaka Sūtra.
