Tenth, the Mahāvaipulya Buddhāvataṃsaka Sūtra takes the fundamental Buddha Vehicle named in this sūtra as its central doctrine, and also takes the unimpeded pratītyasamutpāda and freedom of principle and phenomena of the dharmadhātu, with causes perfected and fruits fulfilled, as its central doctrine. Because this sūtra is named the Mahāvaipulya Buddhāvataṃsaka Sūtra, it likewise takes the Buddha Vehicle as its central doctrine. This sūtra expounds the virtues of the fruit of Vairocana's essential wisdom and compassion, universally revealing them to sentient beings, so as to cause sentient beings of great aspiration to have faith in the Buddha's fruit virtues and use them to establish the causal stages. Having given rise to faith, they then cultivate the fruit virtues of the ten thousand practices of principle and wisdom and great compassion, using them to achieve initial realization. At the time of first giving rise to the mind, one immediately achieves right awakening, cultivating both principle and practice so that essence and function are free, not clinging to a single principle, and not practicing in isolation so as to foster one-sided views. This sūtra possesses ten kinds of profound, vast, and incomparable dharmas that distinguish it from all other sūtras.
