Third, the section of two and a half lines of sūtra text from "Also truly knowing" onwards concerns knowing the ten kinds of upholding phenomena. It explains that this bodhisattva is always able to remember and uphold these ten immeasurable phenomena, remembering and upholding each one without confusion or loss. Buddha-upholding: because of knowing all phenomena upheld by the Buddha. Dharma-upholding: because of knowing the sequence of phenomena. Saṅgha-upholding: because of knowing that the essential nature of thoughts dispersing is without separation. Karma-upholding: because of knowing the sameness and difference of sentient beings' karma. Affliction-upholding: because of recognizing the characteristics of afflictions. Time-upholding: because of knowing that the sameness and difference, totality and particularity, of beginninglessness and kalpa-times of the three times do not shift. The rest should be understood by analogy. The above concludes knowing all upholdings.
