Regarding the fifth, the pure land of the Maheśvara heaven: the Tathāgata sits there on a jeweled lotus throne and attains complete, perfect enlightenment, which is taken to be the true reward. His attainment of enlightenment here in the bodhimaṇḍa of the country of Magadha in Jambudvīpa is a transformation [body]. This is preached for the sake of provisional-teaching bodhisattvas within the three vehicles who have not yet extinguished [the duality of] defilement and purity, saying that this Jambudvīpa and the six [desire] heavens are defiled and contaminated in the desire realm, whereas that Maheśvara heaven in the upper realm is uncontaminated. Because it preserves defilement and purity and has not eliminated "this" and "that", this is a provisional teaching, not an ultimate explanation.
