Third, explaining the reason for the Buddha's appearance in the world: when the Tathāgata appears in the world, he provisionally uses stages to show what is real. If one sees the Tathāgata as having just attained right awakening and teaching in the three periods of the true, counterfeit, and degenerate Dharma, this is not the view of right awakening, nor is it seeing the Buddha's advent. These are views held temporarily by sentient beings of inferior understanding; those seeking right awakening should not be like this.
