第三體相門者,正以菩提心為願體。如《法華》云「一切智願猶在不失」,以願得一切智,故名一切智願是菩提心。又《地論》云「願善決定者,初地中說發菩提心,即是本分中願,應知」也。

Third, the section on the essence and characteristics: strictly speaking, the mind of bodhi (bodhicitta) is the essence of the vows. As the Saddharmapuṇḍarīka-sūtra says: "The vow for omniscient knowledge remains intact and is not lost." Because one vows to attain omniscient knowledge, it is called the vow for omniscient knowledge, which is the mind of bodhi. Furthermore, the Daśabhūmikā-śāstra states: "'One whose vows are well-determined' means that in the first bhūmi it speaks of giving rise to the mind of bodhi, which one should know is the vow belonging to one's own fundamental duty."
