From "At that time the World-Honoured One" down is the fourth section. In the text there are four parts: first, the Buddha enters Jetavana and verbally addresses and mentally calls upon those to whom it is to be entrusted; second, from "Then the Lord of the Devas" down, those to whom it is entrusted all arrive; third, from "to the Lord of the Devas" down, the Buddha preaches the sūtra for them and entrusts the Dharma to them; next, from "The Lord of the Devas, Ānanda, and the great assembly" down, the fourth explains the great assembly hearing the Dharma and joyfully putting it into practice. In the first part, the Tathāgata first entered Jetavana with his body, next verbally addressed and summoned Ānanda with his mouth, and next mentally recollected Śakra with his mind: these are the three karmas. "Di" (emperor/lord) is master; "Shi" (Śakra) is capable. Being capable of being the lord of devas, he is named Di Shi (Śakra). In the second part, that the Lord of the Devas suddenly arrived at that time is because the holy minds perceive each other; thus, when the Buddha thought of him, the Lord of the Devas immediately arrived. Ānanda was already present at the Buddha's location, and therefore it does not mention [his arrival]. In the third part, first he preaches the sūtra for them. From "Having spoken, he told" down, he entrusts the Dharma to them. First preaching the sūtra for them means that he broadly preached this sūtra for the Lord of the Devas and Ānanda, so that after the two heard it, each would circulate this Dharma in the heavens and in the human realm respectively.
