Eighth, the section on sequential order. The Yingluo jing first explains embracing the wholesome, next explains embracing sentient beings, and last explains restraint. It also first explains that there is no evil not ceased, next explains that there is no good not practiced, and last explains that there is no person not saved. As for the sequential order of the three precepts explained in the present text: first, one must cease evil through one's own practice, hence the first explained is the precept of restraint; thereafter, one is able to extend to others, hence the second explained is embracing sentient beings; both self-practice and transforming others must generate virtue, so, applying to both self-practice and transforming others, the precept of embracing wholesome dharmas is explained.
