2.37

經曰「今日世雄住諸佛所住」者，述云：此第二念也。有說：所住者即大涅槃，諸佛同住故。佛於世間最為雄猛，故云世雄。非也。佛常住涅槃，非今日住故。今即如來住諸佛平等三昧，能制眾魔雄健之天，故住佛住為世雄名之因也。

On the passage in the sūtra "Today the Hero of the World abides where the Buddhas abide": The commentary states: This is the second thought. Some say: What is abided in is great nirvāṇa, because all Buddhas abide in it together; the Buddha is the most heroic and valiant in the world, hence he is called the Hero of the World. This is incorrect. The Buddha constantly abides in nirvāṇa, not just abiding in it today. Now, the Tathāgata abides in the equality samādhi of all Buddhas, capable of conquering all Māras—a heroic god; hence abiding in the Buddha's abode is the cause for the name Hero of the World.
