經曰「若有慈敬」至「乃復有佛」者，述云：此次、嘆領荷恩。有二：此初、正嘆彰佛難值也。有說：申己難值。非也。復言，必是顯當有故。今即標彌勒成佛之時也。

On the sūtra's words from "If there are those who with compassion and reverence" to "there will only then be another Buddha": the commentary states: Next, praising their receiving and bearing grace. There are two parts: this first part directly praises and reveals that a Buddha is difficult to encounter. Some say: this expresses that he himself is difficult to encounter. This is incorrect. Saying "again/later" (*fu*) must mean showing what will occur in the future. Here it designates the time when Maitreya becomes a Buddha.
